Dog Training

“In order to really enjoy a dog, one doesn’t merely try to train him to be semihuman. The point of it is to open oneself to the possibility of becoming partly a dog.”

- Edward Hoagland

If you’ve tried everything to get your unruly dog to stop barking, jumping, chewing etc… then this information might be the most important you have read all year.

Why won’t your dog listen to you?

I bet you don’t know.  And you aren’t alone either.

Do you know that most people go about training their dog the wrong way?

That’s right, most people try to get their dog to understand “human” when they should be making the effort to understand the language that their dog speaks.

I talk  more about that on page 3 of Dog Training Basics.  If you haven’t already read the report then you should definitely grab it from the link above.

Inside you will find out how human to dog communication looks from your dogs perspective and how you can use his natural inclinations to make training easier.    If you’ve been struggling to get your dog to “mind” this could be the very thing that turns things around.

It’s an incredibly important part of dog training.  So important that I could write a whole book about it…..

In fact I already have – and you can find out more about it here:

Do You Speak Dog?: How To Easily Train Your Dog
By Communicating With Him On HIS Level

……but for now, let me tell you a little bit more about why your training method aren’t working and what you need to do to get them to work on YOUR dog.

Time to let you in on a “little known secret”
of dog training…

This is one of the most important aspects of being able to easily train your dog.

Your dog will be eager to do as you say…

…If you establish yourself as the pack leader

It’s probably no secret to you that the pack leader has all the control of the pack.  But many people fail at becoming the leader because they simply don’t understand how to interact with their dogs on a “pack” level.

If you don’t establish yourself as the pack leader, your dog will become the pack leader and turn into an unruly monster that doesn’t listen to you and does whatever he wants whenever he wants.

Perhaps this has already happened?

If you find that your dog simply doesn’t pay any attention to what you tell him to do, it’s not because he is a “bad” dog or untrainable.  I believe that any dog can be trained (although some may take more work than others).  The problem is most likely that he sees himself as the pack leader instead of you.

That means he thinks that he is the boss.  And the boss doesn’t have to do anything that his inferiors tell him to do unless he wants to.

If this is the case with your dog, don’t worry… it’s not too late!

You’re probably just making one common mistake which can be corrected with a little work.

The FATAL mistake
that will SABOTAGE
your dog training efforts…

In my free report, I talk about how to establish yourself as leader of the pack.   On the surface, it seems easy, right?

But the truth is that a lot of people make a simple mistake that practically guarantees their pet will be an unruly  monster instead of a well behaved companion.

There is ONE MISTAKE that’s so common
and DAMAGING to your dog training efforts
that I had to single it out just to make sure that…

1. You’re not making it (and its easy to make, believe me)
2. You can learn how to correct it if you are making it

This mistake is not being strict enough in your training and letting your dog “get away” with bad behavior.

You see, it’s human nature to want to treat our furry friends like pampered children.

You want to give them treats and pet them no matter what their behavior.

Let’s face it, it’s pretty hard to be stern with those puppy dog eyes staring up at you even when he is misbehaving By letting your dog get away with bad behavior, you are letting him get the upper hand and signaling to him that you are not the leader!

If you have been doing this, you must stop now!

Of course, I don’t mean that you have to be unkind to your dog and you should definitely give him a lot of petting, loving and treats…. but at the right times.

It’s important that you not “excuse” your dogs unruly behavior. But equally important that you don’t mistreat your dog by punishing physically.

3 Strategies For Becoming
The Leader Of The Pack

If you establish yourself as leader of the pack, a lot of your training problems will disappear immediately because dogs follow what the leader wants instinctively.

You see, dogs are pack animals by nature and they have an ingrained sense of hierarchy where they pack leader is never challenged. Therefore, if your dog sees you as the pack leader, he will inherently want to please you and follow your commands.

Becoming the pack leader isn’t really that hard, but a lot of people don’t know how to go about it. Here are 3 strategies that will help you become your pack leader:

1. Make eye contact with your dog, hold his gaze steadily and don’t be the first to break contact. Much like the game you played when you were a kid, this will help establish you as the dominant member of the pack.

2. Always walk through the doorway first. In nature, the pack leader is the one who goes first, so when you are entering any doorway make your dog wait until you (and other humans) have gone in first before he can enter.

3. Win games of strength. Make sure you win at games like tug of war. Since this is a strength game, the pack leader is always the winner.

Once you establish yourself as pack leader, you will most likely see a lot of your training problems disappear but, you still need to establish a good training schedule and teach fido the basics.

Becoming the leader of the pack is a good part of the battle, but if you want your dog to be an obedient companion that you can trust to behave in every situation, you need to employ the proper training techniques as well.

Being the alpha dog will help ensure your dog listens to you and responses to these techniques.
